me again! :) still trying to get to the bottom of a few things. the wheels on my truck are 8 stud yet single wheel. Does the fact that its 8stud mean any thing? Haven't had chance to get under the cab yet and check chassis/vin number- still raining and to top things off- ice on the windscreen this morning!
cheers

8 lug means it's either 3/4 or 1 ton

wow quick reply~ awesome! I think i'm slowly getting there! Would having 9 leaves in rear susp give any more clues?
-
Not really. Simply being a Crew Cab automatically makes the truck either a 3/4T or 1T truck. It will have that many leafs or more due to this fact.

My dad's old 79 C20 camper special (std. cab longbed) had 8 lugs and the rear brakes were the biggest drums and shoes I have ever seen before. He also had 9 leafs, and the standard 350 with th400. Aside from the electrical issues, that truck hauled.

dang!! I was hoping for the easy route again!
As for wiring~ it'll have to be completely rewired due to a butcher having it before me and only a few lights etc work!
oh well, winter's coming and I'll be tucked up in my garage with it!!

If you can get one, get a painless kit. They are simple and are a direct bolt in for these trucks.

sorry to sound dense but what does a painless kit do!
???
-
Painless Wiring Kit. It replaces the complete wiring system in the truck.

Sorry I thought you might be winding me up- pulling my leg!! Painless kit = matches and fuel, big whoosh and no more pain!
still trying to find a suitable importer- I need to spend loads in "the" shop ;)
