Title: Rally wheel trim rings
Post by: got2haul on October 22, 2007, 08:34:02 am
I have an original set of rally wheels with original caps and 2-1/2" trim (beauty) rings.  I bought one pair of aftermarket 15 x 10 rally wheels.  The caps and rings will fit the wider wheels, and the trim rings are snug like they're supposed to be, but they don't quite recess as much as they do on the OEM rims.  There is a slight gap (maybe 1/8" max) between the edge of the rim and the trim ring, whereas there is no gap with the OEM wheels.  I like these trim rings because of the soft, rounded lip going into the rim's center.  I haven't found any of these for sale anywhere -- just the aftermarket type which have a hard-edged lip.

Are the factory rings still available, and did they come in different sizes (2", or 2-1/4" or 3" for example)?  Anyone know of a source?  I'm just trying to get a bitter fit on the 15 x 10 wheels.

If it isn't obvious, I haven't made up my mind on what wheels to run!

There were 2 different sized trim rings.  One was narrow and one when to the center on the 8" wheels.  I don't think they are availilble from GM anymore though, but it wouldn't hurt to check...
