Title: CADDY TAILS FINALLY DONE! (lots of pics)
Post by: loudnlow87 on October 24, 2007, 07:48:58 pm
been meaning to post this for a week now. ive never seen it done on this bodystyle, which was mainly why i wanted to do it. this project dragged out forever due to the difficulty and also for couple months i just had no time at all to put into the truck. once i got all the metal work done the wiring gave me massive issues. i know electrical, but i had to have my dad help not only because of his expertise but also because im colorblind and the wiring diagrams i made apparently had colors that werent on the harness haha. so heres the gist of the buildup:

wont be needing those

had to make my own buckets, the FBI ones were too shallow and wouldnt allow for flush mount because of my body lines. very very difficult i recommend just dropping the $60 and buy em, unless of course you have to make different ones like i did.

all finished up

and most importantly,

That look great - good job.  I am doing somthing similar.  I am shaving the tail lights and moving them to the rear tail pan (french style).  Still looking for the tail lights to use.

bought the lights off ebay, $35 shipped i think. originally bought the buckets from FBI, but they wouldnt work so i had to make my own...2 1/2 hours to make them, then lots of hours shaping and fitting to get the light to fit as perfectly as possible.  fortunately, im a bodyman. unfortunately, for the sake of timeliness, im a perfectionist haha

Did a real nice job, i am gonna take a chance and do this to a fiberglass rollpan with these taillight buckets i hope to be getting soon.I think i may have to weld some flange pieces and bond it to the rollpan and french them into it.Should look cool and then find a set of cool reverse lights to d othe same.I wanna be different then the corvette style lights in the rollpans you see in catalogs.

thanks
