Title: Gauge Cluster
Post by: txtj79 on October 28, 2007, 04:04:40 pm
Ok, working on my dad's 76 Chevy Silverado 350 auto.  On the back of the gauge cluster there is a plastic piece that guides the shift indicator cable.  The plastic pice broke off and was lost.  Anyone have any ideas how to fix?

My dad figures it's not repairable, so he wants to replace the gauge cluster.  The problem he is having is that all the clusters he's found have an electrical connection for the oil pressure instead of the older sending unit set up with a fitting on the back of the gauge.  Is it possible to convert it to the electrical style?

Thanks,
T.J.

piece of cake, just put a screw in the cluster and wrap the cable around the srew. It works mint.

You will be limited on your cluster selection since it is a 2 year only setup.  76-77.  Doing what Vile suggested will work.  All that was there was a loop to keep the pull straigh when tensioned.
