Title: rear end ????
Post by: ?83k5blazer on November 06, 2007, 12:39:03 pm
just heard that possibly a rear end from 92-95 chevy caprice will fit under my 84 k5 blazer. this sounds great but not real sure. if this is true i see these cars at junk yards everywhere- plus they have rear disc. anyone know of this swap?

Sounds feasable since you are 2WD.  The only problem I see is your leaf springs and they are coil spring but anything is possible with a torch and a welder.

You can make anything fit with a torch and welder :D
I think they are talking about the disc brake setup and the fact that it will match the trucks 5x5" pattern.  I believe the axle is narrower though, can't confirm that though.

fabricating should be no problem. just want to make sure correct length. anyone know where to go to to check length, type of gears in caprice, and about prop valve for brakes.

I know a member on the 67-72truck boards that fabricates brackets to transfer over Caprice calipers and rotors....maybe you could do that and keep your rearend?
