Title: Looked at a new truck tonight
Post by: Blazin on November 14, 2007, 06:51:57 pm
1986 K 20. 292 I 6, SM456, NP 208, Custom Deluxe, 82,000 original miles. Frame is a little scaly, brake lines are no good. Floor supports on both sides have some holes. tires are real nice. Interior is in real good shape. It has had outer cab corners, & one GM inner fender. The guy paid $3,000 for it 4 years ago, and wants $3,000 for it now. I educated him that it had brakes when he bought it and its now 4 years older with more miles on it. I offered him $1,800 he countered with $2,000. I told him I would be back. I think $1,800 cash will take it. I was going to take pics but it was to dark by the time I got there.

I used to say paying any more than $700 for a truck was against my religion. But now a days $700 gets you a parts truck.

Good luck.

I paid 800.00 for mine and after 12,000 dollars it's starting to come together.

I paid $3,500 for my 91 GMC Sub 2500 4x4http://www.delbridge.net/suburban (http://www.delbridge.net/suburban).

Well, plus a plane ticket from VA to Az and gas back from AZ to VA.  The thing was a beauty.  I would have paid double for it on hindsight and after driving it a while.  She's my daily driver now.

I am just over two years with my $400 Camry. All I have done is a battery, 4 tires, ( needing at least two again now ), and a used gas tank from a Fla. parts car as my lines coming out of the fuel pump were rusted out.
Going on two years with my Lumina APV van. Traded $100 off a plow bill for it and to date have about $1,500 total in it. 90% of the time it is loaded to the gills with carpentry, tile, hand tools.
So I am a cheap SOB.

yea, i have been really happy with my truck...minus running into all kinds of problems because while it was a lo-mileage original...it was mostly idled around a farm...so i got a carboned up motor that is just now coming around...and a weak 700R4 that has already lost reverse and OD and now has to be replaced...so at tax time i'm ripping out the original 305/700R4 combo and throwing in a 350 (already have) and either an NV4500 or a 4L80E or a BUILT 700R4...
