Title: Mini-tubbing a Blazer or Truck
Post by: 82BlazerMan on November 25, 2007, 10:17:01 pm
Has anybody done a mini-tub on a truck or Blazer?  I measured 3 extra inches of wheel space I could get if I got the right back spacing and was thinking about just extending the wheel well to the springs.  I've seen something like this on a 72, but of course they have a different setup.  Seems like it would be real easy for a truck.

I have seen it done, they just added X" in the middle of the wheel house and cut the bed accordingly..  You can already get a fairly wide tire in there without tubbing it though

Yeah, I'm looking for as much tire as I can get without actually narrowing the rearend.  I like a lot of meat, but am just looking to save money.  Thanks.  If anybody has any more advise before I cut it,  please let me know.  Guess I'll have to modify the back seat a little too.

Blazerman, I'm new to the site & just saw this post. I realize you may be done with this, but if your hobby time goes anything like mine maybe it's not too late. Last year I did just what you were saying "move the tub back to the spring". It turned out being one "rib" of the floor, I believe the total was right around2" (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t285/HAULINIT/RearWheelhouses.jpg)(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t285/HAULINIT/817728_225.jpg)(http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t285/HAULINIT/RearWheelhouseLH.jpg)
