Title: converting to 700r4
Post by: thelivingstons on November 28, 2007, 12:44:22 am
I have a 700r4 from an 83 that I am putting into an 87 fuel injected that currently has a 400.

what do I need to watch for?  is there anything with the computer that needs adjusted?  etc...?

No, the 700R4 isn't computer controlled.  you will probably have to relocate the trans crossmember though, and the output yoke probably won't work, can't remember off the top of my head.

You may have to look into the torque converter lock up. In the 87, the converter lockup is controlled by the computer and on the 83 trans it is controlled by a vacuum switch.....just something to double check
