Title: Front leaf: 3-leaf vs 5-leaf
Post by: anesthes on December 04, 2007, 09:24:41 am
What's the difference?

1981
Leaf Spring Front
Chevy Blazer   3 LEAF

1984
Leaf Spring Front
Chevy Blazer   5 LEAF

Ride height different? or just stiffness?

I just went through this chasing down OEM replacement rear springs for mine.  The short of it is the ride height is the same but the 3-leaf packs are much, much softer.

On the front?

So far I've found 2 leaf, 3 leaf, and 5 leaf front springs..

No, mine were rear.  The 3-leaf springs were rated at 1300 lbs/side, the 5-leaf springs were rated anywhere from 1900 to 2200 lbs per side.

For a front spring, the difference in stiffness is probably not nearly as drastic considering they're carrying the weight of the engine.
