Title: Why are my rear springs 50" ?
Post by: anesthes on December 05, 2007, 08:06:17 pm
I have 4" lift springs. I took them out of the truck and they measure about 50" eye to eye. I have some springs I picked up (8 leaf), that measure about 53" eye to eye. Problem is, when I try to install them, it puts the center pin for the axle farther back. I'm not sure that this is right.

Any insight?

3/4 ton springs are longer than 1/2 ton. Could this be it? ???

What did the 8 leaf springs come off of?

Well we figured it out. The 8 leaf springs came out of a van, which were not 52", nor were they 56".

They got returned.

You figured it out but 1/2T rear springs are 53", Heavy 1/2 and 3/4T springs are 56".

They call the 1/2T springs 52" but they're more like 53". It's sort of strange.

Well, the ones that came out were 50" due to the 4inch lift arch, but yeah 52-53 should be right. I put the springs back in for now cuz I needed to do a little plowing today. I got a parts truck (90 blazer) showing up tomorrow, so I'll probably rob that of it's springs and anything else I need.
