So I picked up a replacement bed for a truck I am working on and have had a couple of strange ideas for the old bed.(73-91 chevy style)
Option 1:
Bob the back off of it, reweld it to the front half (eliminating the wheel wells) and make a "Garage couch" out of it. Mount it on casters so that it can be wheeled around and people can sit on it.
Option 2:
Cut it down so that I can mount the back half to the garage wall with a working tailgate and make it into a fold down workbench that could be used for welding small stuff etc.
Hmm.......Evil thoughts.

If you got the time and space either one would be cool. Make sure you hook up the tailights. I have a Chevelle rear bumper I am going to mount on the wall with low wattage 110 bulbs in em. You can always make a trailer out of it if you have an old truck frame laying around. That is what I do, trailers bring $150-$200 around here with a spare.

I could use a metal bench to weld on so it would be kinda cool. I could mount it solid enough that people could sit on it too.
Then I could have a mural painted on the wall so it would look like the rest of the truck ;D

Mount the end section to the outside of your garage as if someone ran a truck into the side of your garage...have the vinyl siding (or whatever siding) bent around it and paint a hole in it above the bed as if the cab went through as well--throw some splintered 2x4's all around.
yeah, that's it! ;D

weld the front/back together and make a barbeque grill out of it..

The BBQ is a cool idea too! ;D
But does not really fit what I had in mind for the back yard.

I like the couch idea with the backend and working tailights. You could get an old couch for the cushons. Mabye some kind of pressure switch so when you sit on it the lights come on.

A local guys shop has the back end of the bed mounted on his wall in the waiting room and upholstered it as a seat. It looks slick!

Now that would be cool ;)

I would make the couch. I have been tossing around the idea myself lately. My version would be similar, only the tailgate would fold up and down...and it would retain the seat cusion portion. The benefit of this is that it would close for space savings, and look a heck of a lot cooler than a couch with no tailgate

I think that would be a cool work bench.

my buddy and I just parted out an 01 C2500. I cut the rear 2 foot off, planning to make an entertainment center out of it for my 50" sony. I saw some tail gate assist shocks like for a topper, in JC Whitney. Should turn out sweet! Good luck with yours! I wanted a 73-87, but could not bring my self to cut up a descent bed! LOL
