i was wondering if anyone has or has used one of those portable jump start packs? i'm talking about the ones with the short jumper cables attached to it, sometimes they have a 12 volt plug on them to run a light or something. they look like a small toolbox or a lunch box. i'm thinking about getting one and i wanted to get some opinions. just to see which ones people liked, ones they hated or didn't work well. thanks

I've had several jump boxes. They only last maybe 2 years and then the battery goes bad but they're great to have. Believe it or not the longest lasting one I've had is a craftsman and I've pretty much had them all....

It is a good investment.

well, Vile says that he likes his diehard one, does anyone else have a specific brand that they are using and like?

I have a Vector that I bought at Sam's. As was stated above, they work great, but the battery is usually shot after 2 years.

I've got one I got at wal-mart a bit over 4 years ago and its still working just fine..I mostly use it for charging/powering small electronics while camping.

I bought one from AutoZone a couple of years ago and it is still working fine. The one thing that I really liked about it when I bought it was the fact that you only needed an extension card plugged up to the box for recharging purposes.
