Title: Question about Z71 Off Road package
Post by: bjbasspro on March 04, 2005, 06:17:00 pm
:rolleyes    Does anyone know what year Chevy first introduced the Z71 package on a truck?  Was it available with a 4.3L V6 or only a V8?  I am looking at a truck to buy and I am having some really serious questions on its authenticity.  Thanks for the help.

The "Z71" was offered in 88. From 83-87, they had a similar package labled "Z77". There are PLENTY of those Z77s lying around here in South Carolina, and i've seen two identical crew cab c20s with the bold red "Z77" on the bed. Hope this helps!

The Z71 OFF ROAD CHASSIS PKG was offered starting in 1984.  If the truck has it, it would be listed on the option sheet.  I am not sure it was offered on the fullsize until the 1988 year though, but...

Z77 is the Chevy Sport/GMC Street Coupe from 1976 to 1981.  It is NOT the offroad package.  This was a relatively rare option, and now they are fairly hard to come by.  If you know where one is let me know.

I guess the info I was given was wrong. My buddy at the local chevy dealer told me all that. I apologize for misleading you. There are 3 z77's that i'm aware of here in Greer, SC, none of which are for sale.
