Well, I'm not sure how often I'll be updating this thread, as money isn't exactly flowing in for me to be able to do everything I want to do. But, here are the "Before" pics, along with a photoshop of what my plans are for her.
I love my pickup. I've been waiting a long time (about 15 years) to get one of these, and now it is mine.

Looks in good shape. Nice truck.
-
I had the exact same truck but with a granny tranny.
-
that's a clean lookin truck man! you got some nice plans for 'er too!
-
Thanks - and I'm always open to suggestions. I've never really messed with a 4-wheel vehicle before. I've built several custom motorcycles, so wiring/fabrication isn't totally foreign to me.
-
ehh, you'll get the hang of it pretty fast i'm sure...these trucks aren't TOO complicated...just addictive :-\
-
It looks like you have a good solid truck to start with. Mine was almost junk when I started. Good luck!
-
Hey vile i have a 86 k10 swb with a granny tranny ..What engines besides my v6 will hook up with it?
-
Take your pick! SBC BBC for starters
-
Anything will hook to a SM465, Inline6, 4.3L V6, and SBC and any BBC
-
Did you dotor up that frist pic?
-
Well how good is the SM465 in general street/strip wise

LOL - How good? NO Good
-
So you think when i put my 572 in it its gonna trash it?
Only $3000 more to go before i get to buy it
-
No the 572 won't trash it, It will handle the power but you won't be going very fast on the street/strip with a foot of travel between gears.
-
Atleast a foot..I felt like 4th (3rd) gear had me reaching for the passenger floorboard.
-
Yea thats not what i want then...My goal is Raw nasty power
Getting the front wheels of the ground in a 4x4 with a lift lol
I been saving up for this ever since i seen project coper head on trucks
a 572 is as much as a new car...But i think the shock value will be enugh
-
Did you dotor up that frist pic?
Yeah - I used Paint Shop to lower it, drop the wheels in, and paint it.

Looks good. ;D Is that the way you want your truck to look?
-
Pretty much.
-
I think I'm going to work on the interior first.
My plans are to put bucket seats w/center console/jump seat. I also want to put carpet in... maybe I'm crazy, but I just like the carpet look. Stereo will probably be the first step - gotta have my tunes. I've just got to figure out how to get the head unit swapped. It already has an after market (JVC) unit that doesn't work, so it shouldn't be too hard.

Nice truck.....

-
I'm in Auburn (near Winder).

You did a good job on that. It'll look real good when you get it done. Good luck man.
-
Nice truck. Kinda looks like mine. I put bucket seats out of (I think) a '78 Chevy turck that has the low back. I love it and looks great too. Good luck.
-
Well, I've redone the front grille/headlights/bumper, and I've installed carpet, redone the dash, and installed a Grant steering wheel.
I'll get some pics up soon.

Nice starting point, and nice paint scheme to end up with. It reminds me of something else 'Chevy' that I've see with the black, orange stripe and silver. Can't put my finger on it though. Should look great.
I've too waited along time to end up with my truck, an 81 GMC short-wide 2wd that's been restored to look like an 85 Silverado. It's a mild 'street truck' you could say. What I originally had in my head though was a stepside but couldn't find one in nice enough shape for my budget. I remember one from my hometown when i was about 12 and a high school guy had a white new 86 at the time, and mildly customized. I was in love! No complaints about my wideside though. And I'd do carpet. My truck had a new one when I bought it and it feels so much cleaner and neater to have a fresh carpet in it.
