Title: Sheet metal gauge?

Just a quickie, What gauge is the stock sheet metal on  '79?

It depends on what part your referring to, the tailgates are fairly thick, the outer rockers are thinner than the inners. The door skins are thinner than the rockers,the roof is most likely the thinest,ect. Are you trying to buy metal for patch work? If so 16-18 gauge for the floors & inner rockers, 20 for just about everything else should be good. Hope that helps, Lorne

The aftermarket sheetmetal we sell is 19 guage or thicker.
