Title: Aftermarket Fans
Post by: Redneckchevy on January 20, 2008, 02:42:23 pm
What would be the benefit of a After market cooling fan? like one of them 70$ ones from summit?
Cpl degrees cooler then stock or is it just for looks?

The main benefit is thermal efficiency/consistency and lack of mechanical drag on the crankshaft. Unfortunately the only real bolt on high efficiency fans for our trucks are around $500 bucks. A 16" fan alone with no shroud will not proved adequate cooling

Sounds like a good deal. I would love to put a dual setup on my 85 c10, but like Vile said they are pricey. :(

If you can mount one effectively inside your existing shroud then go for it! Just make sure you wire it up using the correct gauge wire, circuit protection, and a relay controlled by a thermostatic switch.
