Totally unrelated to truck talk. Just for laughs. Been seeing this 'fad' more and more.
Big wheels, gullwing and suicide doors, you have to appreciate the work done even if its not your thing. There is a quick clip of a chevy truck if it makes you feel better.
Check it out.

IMO......riding BIG is nice up to a limit...... don't exagerate in SIZE though. 30" is ridiculous and very, very expensive.
NICE THOUGH DON'T GET ME WRONG!!!!
-
lol Those are all some ugly lookin wheels and I had to mute that crappy song lol
-
lmao..I dont no what to say about that...
-
Kind of like a car accident, you just can't look away.
Yea, the tune made me want to hit something! >:(
-
Yea, the tune made me want to hit something! >:(
hahhaaaahahaa i can just imagine hitting the first thing that moved... "ooopppsss - sorry honey!"
-
I had to mute the sound as well. I get a headache listening to that audible pollution.
Those things are insane---I guess whatever floats your boat, i mean car---umm, well, the car don't have to float if the wheels are large enough. Whatami trying to say here?, uh, along with the audible pollution, that video had visual pollution to go along with it.

I agree that music was awful and dang those cars have more ground clearence than my truck. But I have an office downtown Cincinnati and I see cars like that all the time they park in my lot to wave at their buddies in jail to show off their new wheels and open their doors like a swiss army knife just makes me laugh
-
lol, this reminds me of a funny i pulled one time. i was in my F350 4x4 (6" lift and 37's) at the parts store (go figure...) and came out and there was a "box" parked beside me with 52" rims (exaggeration...stick with me people) and i think he had more clearance than my truck...so being the smarty pants guy i am, i asked him, "hey man, where you wheel that thing?" he got all ticked off and started calling me a expletive redneck and expletive honkey, cracker, whatever else he could think of...i laughed as i hopped in the truck.
then he made a crucial mistake. he got behind a dude with a modded diesel...bwahahahah. i turned my chip all the way up and gave 'er all she had and it suddenly became dark for him... 8)
-
I drive a semi for a living and you wouldn't believe the pepole and things iv seen done to cars...i was rolling across Virgina one day when i seen a station wagon with a lift kit on it and off road tiers...Then i drive another state over i see Trucks with the "52's" and the top cut of there ranger..With fur all over the body panels ..

I think I vomited in my mouth a little bit! That was before I saw the yellow thong!
Why would someone ruin an early Caprice, or those Cutlases, and the rag top Eighty Eight? :'(
I couldn't appreciate the work because what they did wrecked allot of nice old iron!
-
Thank you Blazin!!! My thoughts exactly!!!!!!
THEY MESSED UP SOME NICE CLASSICS ARGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Too ghetto for me. But I had to laugh at the 4 wheeler with 30's :D :D :D
-
I think the camaro looked good...Then again it didnt have them 33's
-
Totally gross i rather ride on 36 inch tall mud terrain tires then on them pimp my ride 30s on a caprice.I rathr get a lil mud on the tires(brad paisley) then listen to that rap crap.Thats beyond the defination of BLING BLING there. ::)
thanks

Most of the rims were hideous, the music wasn't that bad..I've heard worse..far worse..anything played on a country station for example. ;D
If they made their money legally and legitimately, they can do whatever they want to to those cars ;)

I don't agree werewolf :) I can't see messing up beautiful CLASSICS like they did. I grew up with those classics. I have fond memories riding in them as a kid - heck, my first car was a 1968 Buick Skylark with a big block. The Classics are getting fewer and fewer.
Sorry, just my opinion. It's a dang shame!! :(
It's like adding bling to the Mona Lisa.
-
I grew up in a family that had several of the old classics..we still have the '63 buick riviera thats been in the family since I was 4, and only sold the '65 impala about 7 years ago.. Personally, I loathe the "classic" style wheels and rally wheels and such, so I'd encourage people to swap up to 17s in a newer style, but going as big as they go is rediculous..but its THEIR car, THEY paid for it, THEY can do what they want to it.

Really? are you serious? The original factory rally wheels is a huge identifiable part of the classic/muscle car era. I do like a lot of the aftermarket wheels (standard size) but there is nothing more correct looking than stk rally's. No offense to your comment, by the way. ;)
Being a hardcore chevelle guy, I am totally against hacking up the early classic/ muscle cars with wheels that oversized but the later model 4dr full size caprices, impalas, etc they can have.
They probably look at us with our trucks as nonsense.
At the end of the day it is someones hobby or vision that they created (or paid someone to do).
I hate the freaking imports but except them as the younger generations 'hot rods'.
I posted that clip on my chevelle site I'm part of and they cant understand why everyone doesn't have chevelle! I remain impartial, I appreciate the love, sweat and money that people put into anything creative they do even if I can't relate to it personally.

I guess once you go BIG you don't go back........................YUK.....
-
Are you guys gonna call the quality membership board on me, for having 22's on the back of my truck? :o

You got it! ;D

TNTrucks, your truck is tastefully displaying a proper rake due to difference in wheel size...not a DONK (people, there is even a magazine dedicated to the butchering of classics for the sake of huge rims, and that is the given name for the rides in that video-DONKS). I have a cousin who owns a motorsports shop and he says those guys are paying up to 4 grand on top of the price of the wheels to have the suspension modified to clear those rims!
-
..but its THEIR car, THEY paid for it, THEY can do what they want to it.
It may be their car, but it still doesn't change my opinion ;)
-
Actually they are Hi-risers (it origins are from the south) Donk is the term people have labelled them with as the earlier versions were the most popular.
1971 through 1976 Chevrolet Caprice/Impala are Donks (short for Donkey as in the Impala on the back and sloping rear trunk)
1977 through 1992 Chevrolet Caprice are Boxs (trunks are no longer sloping)
1993-1996 Chevrolet Impala are Bubbles (as in they are rounded)
Although I wouldn't go out and buy one (got to many vehicles as it is), I admire the mods required. Some I think look good, some I don't. Some people don't understand why I lower my trucks, why people want to lift a 4x2 truck, or a 4x4 truck, it all comes down to personal taste, be it Donks, Lifted 4x4's, ground scraping minis etc.
-
My budy has 17s on his 57 Fairlane 500. They look good because they are perportioned well to the car. Any bigger is just stupid no matter who pays for them!
-
It's like adding bling to the Mona Lisa.
Hey, it is the 21st century, DaVinci--time for an update.

I can think of one guy's truck I would like to do that to in particular!
-
I know a guy that deserves that to his mobile home!
-
lol, I know a former boss who deserves that to his business!
-
That was awsome I can think of a few That I could use that on start with an ex-wife. ha ha
-
Yeah, Donks are making there way out here too. I personally would not own one myself, I think there kinda dumb, but I built one for a friend. I used 1/2 Chevy 4X4 axles ( front axle was retubed with some 0.375 wall 3" DOM ) & fabbed up some radius arms, used Ford Coil springs up front, out back I used Chevy 4X4 truck rear leafs in the rear with some drop front spring hangers that I made & some 12" shackle & 5.5" blocks. It was a lot more work than it sounds, but this one can be driven without worrying about loosing the wheels while driving down the street. Most of the straight axled Donks use Jeep Cherokee 2wd front axles with wheel spacers, those unibearing axles are way to weak for the big cars they put them under.

Those are 26" wheels & the tires measure out at just over 35"s, it's a big car ( 73 Pontiac Grand Safari Wagon ) & makes the wheels look small in the picture.
-
Sorry I would have told the guy to go somewhere else before I ruined a nice old classic like that. All that work you should have put a t case and left the front axle alone.
-
That wagon reminds me of the lifted 4wd Chevelle SS that ran around town for years..the body was pretty rough, and the guy went through tires like mad because of how often he drove it on the street..somthing like 4 sets of boggers in a years time.
-

Yeah, but I've learned that to keep food on the table, clothes on my family's back & a roof over our heads not to question people when they approach me with fists full of cash.
-
I hear ya!
-
There isn't anything good about those cars at all.......Freakin hideous! About as cool as 13" triple gold daytons on our trucks which I have seen before and they stuck way out of the wheel wells. :'(
