Title: which carb for my mild 305?
Post by: jo3y1nf4nt3 on January 24, 2008, 12:21:18 pm
it's .030 over L69 (H.O.!!!!!)  with a mild crane cam (not sure of specs right now) with a performer rpm intake, 1.6 roller tips, ~9-9.5:1 compression.  edelbrock site says the 1403 (500 cfm, electric, non-egr) is for 305 and smaller....i had the 1406 (600 cfm, electric, non-egr) and it was ok...maybe too big?  i dont' know what kind of vacuum it was pulling, but it was average.  all my stuff worked...

and since i'm on the the mic, i installed my motor already...without the distributor...do i ahve to take it out to install the distributor...i think i made an uh-oh....

and another question..since i am using the 1.6 roller tip rockers, do i have to use longer lenght pushrods or is std. ok?  the valves are the same (stock from L69..what is that? 1.84/1.5)  thanks guys...joey.

The dist. can be installed after the motor is in assuming it is in the standard position.

jo3y1nf4nt3 Can't you come up with a better avatar then boogers and plaque?

Yes you can install the distributor and remove it with the engine in.

standard pushrods will work
