where is a good spot to mount my 7 inch tach i have all the mounting hardware for the tach but i cant seem to figure out where to put it. let me know if you have any suggestions.
-
put mine on steering wheel....Urs a auto or stick? auto u could put it on floor hump..iv never seen a 7 inch in a 73-87...U could get ideas from cardomain
-
i have a column shift so therefor i dont really have much room there
-
If u bought it at a store u could take it back and get a smaller one...like a 3 inch..then u could put it on the steering wheel
-
i wish i got it from a buddy of mine i guess i find a spot for it some where, with out tearing up my truck.
-
I'm hoping you installed it on the steering column, not the steering wheel.

:D

lol...What u dont think thats cool? if ur the type that likes to lean into his turns u never gotta take ur eye off it...Gotta take it off the road....But heck the tach looks better....yea its on the column lol
-
I like to lean into the corners, especially being a prior F-Body owner and present Corvette owner, but the rotation of the neck around the corners is too much for me, lol :)

You know im debateing the same question. I have an auto and would like to install a big tach. I dont like the idea of installing even a small one on the steering coloum or on the dash because its just something else that in the way if I have to take the dash a part.
Why not install it on the roof so its hanging down to either the left or right of you? 7" tach might be to big for that?
What about to the right of the radio? Right on the metal corner of the dash? Only thing I dont like about this is my kids. I let them drive from time to time on my lap and with them slideing over from the passenger side to my side to drive im thinking they would be hitting it with their boots all the time.

I think your best bet is on the dash to the right of the dash bezel if you are going with an external tach

The trouble with that is then everytime you take that dash off then your going to have to disconect that tach. Seems with me im always taking my dash a part for something.

put a connector on it.

You know your probable right. On the dash to the right of the driver would be the spot.If you put it low, to the right of the radio, that is going to be to far down to be looking. Same deal with mounting it on the roof. Your going to have to take your eyes quite a bit off the road to see it.

when i put one in my 79 i didnt know where to put it o was gonna put it around the colou but i ended up doing so creative drilling and i mounted it to the pillar next to the windsheild right above the dash. i dont have any pics but i really like they way the tach looks there-

I have mine on my dash as well. It's perfect mainly because even when your on the road you can still make out what your RPM's are out of the corner of your eye.
Better than having it rotate in circles every time you turn. :P
