Title: stupid NP203!!!!
Post by: copekyle on January 28, 2008, 06:11:45 pm
Alright.... I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what is going on.  About two weeks ago I installed the Superwinch 4X2 conversion kit into the 203 case and put on the locking hubs.  (77 K20 3/4)  Right away when the wheels were free and shifter in HI, the truck wouldn't move.  SO that's good.  So I took it about 140 miles on the freeway at 75mph.  I thought to myself I need to make sure the T-case gets lubed so about half way I shifted into high lock to move the front drive train.  I went on my way and about two miles later I noticed that my shifter had popped out of high loc. (I was going 75)  SO I'm not sure what happened but now this is the problem:

When I put case in high loc and wheels are locked I can see the front drive train move (so that's good)
Then high and wheels locked, front drive train moves (good)
Then high wheels unlocked, front drive train moves and truck still drives(bad)
Then high loc wheels unlocked, front drive train moves (good)

I'm not sure how to check if my for wheel drive is working but it feels as if the front drive train is not pulling the front wheels as I can spin my back tires on ice and my front tires won't pull me through.  Anyone have any ideas what would cause this?  I'm unsure because if the kit in the case wasn't working then the truck wouldn't move with case in high and front wheels locked.  But if it was working then the front drive train wouldn't move when wheels were unlocked and case in high.

Hope this isn't too confusing.... ask my questions if you need clarification.  Thanks in advance for your help!!

Kyle

I don't think you quite understand how it works. Didn't you say you installed the conversion kit? If so it sounds like it's working fine.

Sounds like originally you were in Neutral and not engaged into 4w
