down here in texas....is an electric choke really required? craigslist has one (manual) for $100 rebuilt but i imagine having to get under the hood everymorning and pushing in the choke. or even if doing it from the cab....can't i just turn it on and drive after a minute or so? it's a 600cfm for my 305 (H.O.!!!) lol..thanks guys.

you'll need a choke in the colder climates but if your air fuel mixture is rich enough you may have no problems. You can always put an electric choke on for around $50 bucks if you discover you want it.

take a alook....the only thing visibly damaged is the electric housing itself....and some leaves inside. besides a good cleaning, you think i should just use this? i guess summitt would have an electric choke kit? that'd be a -_- deal...mucho way better. that's what's holding me back for now...

Carb looks like a good starting point, and your Local Auto Parts Chain should actually have the Choke Pieces & Rebuild Kit readily available(If you don't want to wait! ;)... Just take in your Carb for reference, and then go from there...

yea, so i'm pretty stoked that i can still use this carb....just to move it around to the body shop and eventually take a 4bolt 350 to the machine shop...so i won't have much use for a 600cfm much longer....
its' soooooooo on!~~!

You don't need the choke conversion kit you just need the choke coil and cover it looks like.

you might consider getting a carb kit and rebuilding that thind before you put it on, the accelerator pump is probably bad, and as for the choke, that all depends on if you wanna sit in your truck while it warms up, or go back in the house till it warms up. I always make sure mine works. There is nothing more agrivating than walking back into the house and hear the truck die. It doesn't have to be real cold for it to come in handy.

Can't speak a lick of the Language, but I'm a mix of Everything and Anything on the map! My Great Grandfather on my Mom's side was supposed to be a mix of Latin & South African on his Mother's side(Around South America was all I was told), and Danish/Dutch & Italian on his Father's Side.... Like the Genetic Specialists say, were all prolly as close as 60th cousins anyways! So Family is Family ;D
My Great Gram used to always tell me to be proud of the fact that I have everything and anything in me Nationality wise, but it will never be enough to Please others, or Profitable for me in any way :-\

The Flat Plate/Cover that goes in the cap seems to only be available in a Conversion kit, unless he can get one from Edelbrock directly ???
Edelbrock Part #1474 comes with the replacement Cap,Gasket, and Screws, but don't know if the Thermo Spring is already attached to the inside of the cap(No pics show it, nor is it described as being apart of the kit, just says "Cap")...

I'm a big fan of manual chokes..use a choke or PTO cable from a farm supply store..pull it all the way back, turn the key, push it in about 1/4 til it idles right, all in all takes 10 seconds, and you can leave and wait for it to warm up, or take off with it as is, and gradually open the choke as it warms up. Every single electric choke I've ever used, including one on a brand new edelbrock, would open the choke almost instantly and the truck would die, unless I sat there for 20-30 seconds with it idled up a bit, then it would stay running.

ok, got my rebuild kit in and a new choke cap kit..it does come with the coil inside too! more to come...
