Hey guys! I'm lookin for blue paint job color ideas? No flames, no naked ladies, just a wet looking, Solid BLUE PAINT Job!!
Some guys can make a red paint job look juicy wet, but how about a BLUE wet job!!!
I went to House of Kolors web site, but they only have paint #'s! I don't know what color those numbers are?
Plus, I kinda what to see the blue color on a 76 GMC or something along that body style. Any websites or pictures!

Go to your local paint dealer auto parts store. Look at their color charts. Its not all the paint that makes it look wet. The better quality the easier it is to make it look wet. Its mostly the process and the prep.

I've got the blue subaru wrx on my 85 K20 I think the paint code was bc02

I know this isn't our years, but I really liked it (barrett-jackson a few weeks ago). Might look good on our trucks.

VERY small metallics in the blue - looks like a solid blue in the shadows and very blinggy in the sun! 8) (where's the afro smiley?)

I thought that the WRX Blue has Fine Metallic Flecks in it, or atleast the cars I have seen has it ??? Kool Puppy Ville 8), looks like he needs a little bit of a Lift, or do you prefer your Pups to be Low-Ridin ;D
-
He's actually a pretty tall sheltie. Perfect size and wicked cool!! As far as the paint goes yes it does you just can't tell from the pix especially with the crappy digital camera I have at work -where I took those pix. I still have a quart of the paint base. I could take a pic of a sample of the paint but it would just be the base -no clear.

If only it was BLUE!!! Can you BLUE to look like this?
-
I am not sure what you are trying to do with the linking, but it isn't working...
-
Sorry! Guys!! How about now?
-
You should have seen them already in the above link. Did you not?
-
Just in a rush! I though I could cut and paste!
But, isn't that a cool, wet looking paint job? Only if it was blue?
-
Any paint can look like that. That's just the clear coat

-
Really? That shows how much I know!!!
About how many clear coats can do this?
-
Two coats of clear is really all thats needed, and often all thats recommended..it can be layered on for more depth, but how "wet" it stays looking, depends on the quality of the buffing, and the quality of the wax/glaze, as well as how often its waxed..
-
you can actually have too much paint film on the vehicle. I agree with werewolfx13, two coats is all you need to color sand and buff. I put down three coats of clear because I get alot of trash in my paint jobs. I just love burrying all that junk under the clear ;D
-
The Viper blue is a really nice blue. So is the Intense Blue Dodge has produced on it's Rams and Dakotas in the late 90's and early 2000's. But if you aren't into metallics, that might be difficult. Not really sure of a nice solid-color blue. Most factory blues have been metallics for quite a while as far as I know.

not to high-jack this thread, but Vile, where did you get that grill from? that looks really cool. i like the hidden lights look. how well do they work at night though?
as for paint, i like my rattle can doors and fenders. after about 10 or 15 more cans, the rest of the truck should be done. :D i just don't have anyplace that i can paint my truck with a real gun where i won't have leaves, bugs, and sand blown into it. as was mentioned before, i have heard that the clear helps make the paint look wet and deep.
-
Phantom Grill, it works pretty good at night. As far as painting outside, just set up a tent or tarp. I did a paint job outside at night with a drop light one time and it came out awesome! lol ;D

Man Vile, I love that truck. Indigo Blue on the 01 Chevy trucks is dark and gorgeuos, but has microflake in it as well. It really looks good on these trucks, and in some instances actually looks black.
