okay, here's my situation......i have an 85 c-10 and its a 2wd. Currently i have a turbo 400 tranny in it. i went to check the tranny fluid the other day and it was quite low, so i topped it off. wouldnt you know it, but the darn thing started leaking. i looked around, and diagnosed it as the gasket most likely. So since i was due for a fluid change anyway, i decided to do a filter and fluid change. i also bought a tranny pan with a drain plug in it, to make my life in the future easier. Anyway, i change the pan, and guess what? it still leaks.......from the same spot, at the same flow rate. So i figure snce its leaking on the pass. side, in the same area, that it probably wasnt the gasket in the first place, but i wasnt overly upset since i was due for a filter and fluid change anyhow.........so i then decided that its the modulator. so i run out and get a new one. I just changed it........well guess what.........i still have a leak, in the same spot as i did........it appears to be coming from near the dipstick tube........any thoughts?
thanks
scott

well change the rubber o ring for the dipstick tube? make sure you dont over tighten the tranny pan bolts. i think they are only suppose to be like 12lbs-ft of torque. if over tightend the gasket will squeeze out as well as warpage to the tranny pan. i hope you didnt get a chrome tranny pan? chrome will leak. as for the modulator alll you had to do was change the o-ring.

the reason i put a new modulator in was because the place's i called didnt sell just the o ring. if they did, i certainly would have gone that route instead of spending hte $$$ on a new modulator. in any event, turns out it was the dipstick tube. i pulled it out, sealed it up, put it back in, and no more leak.! woo hoo!!
