Post by: Blazin on February 19, 2008, 06:21:12 am
We got slamed with freezing rain night before last and rain all day yesterday, lots of fun. Ran two plus tanks of gas through the truck, and 20 yards of sand through the speader. Even I am getting tierd of winter now! ::)

ChaChing$$. Curious how extra this adds to your yearly income? If you don't mind me asking, of course.

Good luck.

Haven't even figured this years total yet. Last few years have been easy winters. Grossed around $10,000 last year about $13,00 the year before.

Sand huh? Got some smart ones there....Cant wait for them to do away with salt all together and use the beet juice..The high ways around here already switched...It would be nice to buy a car and not have to garage it in the winter due to the salt  :-\
Title: Re: Weather
Post by: JJSZABO on February 20, 2008, 01:29:52 pm
Beet juice? ???  Really?  Never heard of it used that way. :-\
Title: Re: Weather
Post by: ccz145a on February 20, 2008, 03:00:59 pm
I heard that beet juice produces sodium cloride (salt) too. Oh well, i know the stuff is full of sugars, maybe our fire-ants will move up your way. lol.

Hang in there Blazin', just 2 more months. Ought to be nicer by this time in April, right?

Temps this morning  9 degrees F.

We are expecting SNOW and ICE tonight through tomarrow evening.

Lookout Blazin  :o - it's comming your way.  Seems like the storms form in the south, go off the coast around North Carolina.  Then BLOWUP into Noreasters and blast us before heading into New England as monster snow and ice storms.

Post by: Blazin on February 21, 2008, 10:22:51 am
It was one degree this morning at 5:00 AM when I got up. looks like this one is going to be south of me for the most part. Possible 1 to 2 inches here.
Last year our capitol city got less than 10" of snow, this year so far they have had 103"! Snowiest winter before March 1st since they have been keeping records.

The good thing about temps that low is that it makes temperatures in the 30's and 40's feel like spring and summer....:D :D :D

Would you agree Blazin?

I was just wondering for you guys that live up north.  Why don't you put in seat heaters?  Based on my experience they work great and heat up faster than the engine.  $90 gets the driver a back and rump roaster. Heated Seat Kits (http://www.heatedseatkits.com/heatedseatkits/index.html)

That is why I left my hometown of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and ended up in the Austin, Texas area! It gets hot here in the summer but no snow. Maybe a few flurries once in a while. And we MIGHT get a freeze during our "winter". I agree with Vile though....if it drops under 65, I'm irritated. I know--I'm a wimp.  :-[

I had to wear my coat til about noon, then was burning up and took it off.... I think I may have gotten a sunburn LOLOLOL Sorry guys , I had to rub it in, but would like to see some of the snow you get in person. The most I have ever seen here is about 6 inches. Good thing though, the people here are like Bitzers part of the world, if it sprinkles people start hitting the gaurdrails on the overpasses. The reason I don't take my 50 Dodge out in the rain is not because it will damage it,.people are just to stupid and I don't want to get run over. Stay warm and be safe guys.
