Post by: 75??? franken-trunk on February 21, 2008, 03:59:27 am
ok i have a 84 k10 short box with 10 both front and rear... my rear keeps locking up and hoping in tight turns, i think the spiders are about to give up. :'( i want to keep it 6 lug cuz of my nice rims
15x10 out law ll's.......   ok so i know i could swap in another 10 but will it handle light use of 35" tires otherwise what about a 14 bolt with a 6 lug out of a 88 to 90's 3/4 ton seeing that all 73-87 3/4 / 1 tons 14's have 8 lugs >:( what is the over all width of the the 2 and what about spring perches is it worth it what do you guys think??? ???

Why not pull the cover and see what the problem is? Is it a LSD? Replacing the differential gears is cheap and easy. (sounds like my ex wife again)

simply find a 12 bolt out of a 73-82ish half ton. Im running one under my 1/2 ton and I have no problems tearing up my 37's...

I have a 14 bolt 9.5" semi floater in the garage out of a 90's SS 454 truck
I could dig it out and measure it for ya
I was gonna put it in my 82 stepside but it's about an inch narrower on each side (2" overall) if I had the fleetside bed it "might" work with relocation of the spring perches.

The 6 lug 4x4 14 bolt 9.5" semi floaters are not the same width
I forget if it's narrower or wider
The 2WD 14 bolt 6 lug is another one (I think it's the same as the SS truck)

Different gear lube type will cause the GM Posi to react different
I installed a Gov-lock type in my 88 and it did the same thing till I added this:

GM# 1052358
