Title: help with 85 Dash wiring.
Post by: KoolerSL2 on February 27, 2008, 06:13:07 pm
well im in the process of parting out a 84 truck and gonna snag the cluster and as much of the harness as i can get.
my question is so.
my truck is originally a 85 custom 4.3 auto idiot light truck.
the cluster in getting is a 84 silverado with the factory gauges.
im going to get new sensors and such but i need to know if anyone had a GOOD wiring schematic on these trucks.
so i can be able to swap in everything and wire it up properly working.

Every time I do one of these I use the Haynes manual I have had for YEARS.  I have never had a problem swapping them out or problems with the schematics.
They Haynes shows full schematics for the dummy light setup, but has a separate part for the specific pins on the cluster.  Being 84 vs 85, there shouldn't be much difference especially if both are in operational order.  The last time I put an 86 full guage C10 cluster in a 81 2WD K5 dummy light in about 30 minutes using these schematics.
If you don't like the one in there, I would suggest purchasing a Helm's owners manual.
