I just installed some headers on my 79 K10, 350, and now my pickup runs worse than it did before. i replaced the spark plugs with shorter ones made for headers, they were accel brand i believe, and also replaced the plug wires in place for the ones with the longer boots. I checked and none of the plug wires are touchin the headers either. the only things i unhooked to install my headers what the one wire for the temp and the plug wires. my pickup seems to idle fine, but once you take off it runs really rough and sounds like it pops in the exhaust here and there, almost like there is a miss or something. i am stuck and cannot think of what could be wrong, any help would be appreciated.
the headers i bought were the summit brand ones, can't remember the specs of em off the top of my head.

did you make sure you have your plug wires back in order? did you gap your spark plugs correctly?

I think you got some plug wires crossed.
18436572 is the firing order, and most of the time your number one on the dist. is pointing at number one, it be like 5 o'clock if you are looking at it standing in front of the radiator or maybe around 4. They go clockwise after that I think.

I will have to check that out and give it a try, thanks guys.

OR, it's possible that the plug wires may not be pushed on all the way; This happened to me a few weeks ago. (see my post entitled "Quadrajet 102")

Could be a cracked spark plug too.

so i checked out my problem and discovered that some plug wires were crossed and not all of them were snapped down all the way. now my pickup runs great and sounds good too. thanks to all for the help.
