Welcome from New Hampshire to the site first off.
If you do a search this has been covered in great detail a bunch of times on this site.
In short, you will need to cut out the pockets in the cowl to mount the 89 hood hinges. You will need the entire windshield wiper transmission from an 81 or newer truck. Use the 78 body mounts under the 89 core suport.
The doors will bolt on without any issues.

How good is your '78 front clip?  I may need to locate one if the insurance fixes my '78 Big10.  Is it rust free?  I will need hood, fenders, core support, bumper, bumper brackets, etc., etc.  Hinges.maybe.
