i live in richmond Va and im sure you know if you are from va that they have a bunch of bullshit vehicle laws. but i was wonderin if i can cut the tail pipes off my exhaust (have duals comming out behind each wheel) and let it dump out under the truck? i would prouably cut it right after the axle and put turn downs but im not sure if it will pass inspection. any help would be great.

Cutting the pipes down. has not a thing to do with the smog stuff. I lived in Calif and now Arizona it all about how the truck came from GM. So if it came with smog stuff you have to put it back on. You can modify your truck if its a 50 state legal part. or if in calif it has to have a smog aproved serial number stamp on the part. you can run down if you have the smog inspection station and they can tell you. Or we have a State info number you can talk to a person that can address the state smog rules. Just remember they will never tell you you can do this and do that you got to read the rules. Talk to the local muffler shop they have to follow the same rules to.

Hi Neighbor!!!
West End here, off Staples Mill Road.
Yes it would pass
All central Va requires is that the pipes go past the cab/bed break.
You must have a cat on each of the dual pipes, but, as long as it goes past the cab, you will have no problems there.
We don't have to worry about smog stuff here in Richmond, YET. No emissions tests here. 100 miles towards Wash. D.C., in northern Va, they must pass emissions.
