Title: Insurance
Post by: dunedigger on March 26, 2008, 02:27:55 pm
I was reading a post from a member with some damage to his truck and was thinking about Insurance.  I just thought I would throw my 2 cents in.  I wanted to get some insurance for my truck last year when I got it finished.  I had to take it to a licensed appraiser to get a quote.  I took it to Don Marah autobody here in Michigan and he set the value at $28,000.  He told me that no matter what he wrote on the appraisal, most insurance companies will never agree to that and say it's worth nothing in the event of a claim.  He recommended Hagerty collector car insurance.  He said they adjuster that looks at the vehicle knows what he's looking at and will protect your investment.  I have mine insured through them now for the full $28,000 coverage with no deductable of any kind for $50 a month.

I have special insurance on my trucks and my Harley. I've got a bike with over $40K into it and if it got stolen or wrecked etc I would only get probably $7K I said screw that and had it appraised. I think I pay under $600 a year for my bike's full coverage insurance. Once my truck is repainted I plan to have it reassessed also but for now I think they'll pay $12k for my 74 if it got destroyed. You can never have enough insurance!
