Post by: 82chevy on March 27, 2008, 08:38:30 pm
hey,im interested in a 2004 2 wheel drive silverado that has a v6. im guessing its the 4.3. how reliable is this engine? im only used the 350. this particular truck has a little under 80 thousand on it and is 8 grand. how much life is left in this truck?? im looking for something a little better on gas than my truck now and something that i can drive in the nicer weather. thanks for any help guys

the life of the truck depends on how it was previously used. If it was maintained properly and driven respectbly, then I figure you should get another 80.000. I have seen them with over 200k. If it belonged to a high school kid who watched The Fast and the Furious to many times, then you may not have long. Check the maintenance and who owned it. If it has a lube center sticker in the window, take the lisc. no. to them and see what maintenance was done. I have had a couple of the 4.3's, and loved them. It is pretty peppy for a 6.Good Luck

I had a 91 s10 blazer 4x4 that made it all the way to 350k miles on it. I bought it at 180k and didnt have to do anything to it from 180k to 350k. Im pretty sure its the same 4.3 they put in the trucks.
