I am working with a guy to build a 2" Tach that bolts in anywhere a standard oil psi or water temp gauge fits. I will be using one in my choptop's custom dash, but primarily in the Industrial engine controls I build. My question is, is anyone intersted in a 2" tach? Trying to consider if it will be feasable for automotive use. I am working with him to design it due to limited space in some control panels. Let me know what you think.

Hadn't seen that one, but it won't work for the application I am working on because the imput pulses will be quite different on a twin than on a 6 or 8, let alone the magnetic pickup signal on most industrial engines. Don't know if the Harley one is adjustable.

Choptop you don't by chance do propane irrigation engines do you?

I found the one with the digital display and shift light. Look ok, but the lights make it look dumb. I am wanting it with a needle, and not so cluttered looking.I am getting these built for industrial engines, just wanted to see if anyone would want it for automotive. I am hoping to beat the $150 range though. Seems a little steep.

There is a 2 inch that fits the factory clock hole in a Chevelle with the standard sweep speedometer. If I can find the link, I will send it along.

i think the 2" tach does hold merit, especially for people like me ,who, aren't racing, aren't really into high performance and just want to know how fast the engine is turning at any given road speed. (So this means we really don't want a giant tach to clutter up space etc.)

However, i think if you can come up with a way to mount a gauge without drilling and/or the steering column thing, you'll get all the marbles. For example, possibly mount to the rear view mirror or something. Or produce a pillar for the 73-87 trucks; Inexplicably, no-one sells one.
That being stated, i feel that the 2" tach intended to go in where a std oil or temp gauge would go might sell if it's high-quality and at the right price.
