I have been looking for a complete bed for my 77 shortbed and haven't had and luck until now. Here are some pictures of a bed that I found and the guy is asking $500 for it. Everybody I ask says its kind of high but I don't know when something like this will come around again. Do you guys think I should go with it? In the pictures the owner painted all the scratches with black paint. It is rust free and the only bad spot is on the passenger side up high in front of the wheel well. There is some bondo there.
Please let me know if it is worth the $500.
Thanks
Adam

cant seem to touch them in my area for less than $850 so if its not full of bondo that is a good price.

I got my longbox completly rust free for $400. It was only on the original truck for 1 year and taken off to set for 20. It is also very hard to find a box around here for that price, I got lucky. If the bottom rails are extremely solid I would say it's worth it. In my area anyway.

The guy is in Texas but he is bringing it up to Kansas City while he delivers some parts. I'm going to take a look at it in person next week and hopefully all goes well. Thanks for the input.

Shoot, 5 bills is a deal if he's delivering!!!!! Esp. a texas bed, I don't think they're prone to rot like around me!!!!!!!
Go For it.

autorepr- Heck man I got mine from Dayton,Oh. actually Franklin for $150.00 and it only needed minor repair to the right side and no rust. But thats one of those lucky deals that rarely come along.

Around here a good (no major dents and bondo) SWB is $400, and a LWB is generally $800.
-
exact opposite here capt. longbeds are dime a dozen and shortbeds are scarce therefore expensive

Long or short doesn't matter up here. If it is truly rust free its worth $1,000 to $1,500. If you search you can find a pretty clean one for $600 to $900 area. It is cheaper to find a whole truck with a decent body on it around here.

JR,,, You musta rubbed your lucky rabbits foot cuz that was a good deal. I bought a longbed in Hubriar Heights off of an 85 for my 76 I redid and it was in perfect shape, I gave the guy $500. Got the bed, tailgate and the cap that had been on it since new. Trashed the cap right away! There out there just gotta get lady luck on your side.

I paid 300 for my SWB but have some rust to fix around the wheel wells - I say go fo it if the bottom rails are good and the body is not full on Bondo.
