Can anyone help me out with my gas tank straps.Just
wondering what to use as a gasket between the strap and
the tank?? I'm thinking of rubber from a tire tube?
-
I'm not using anything on mine. It doesn't rattle or squeak so you might be OK without it.

Yea I was worrying that without something inbetween
it would be noisy.Plus I live in ontario Canada so i have
to deal with major corresion issues

ISTR the factory used high impact plastic stuff for insulators.
Strips of inner tube ought to work fine, if I've ever got to pull mine off I'm going to try some chunks of woven nylon semi-truck cargo strap, it ought to wick out moisture and it might sidestep some of the rust issues ;D

I have used old fire hose hose before.

I replaced one of my tanks last year and I used bike tire tubes. Went to the bike shop and asked for old tubes, the guy gave me a handful for free. They seem to be working fine, just cut and laid flat. I hear ya on the Ontario corrosion. I'm just down the road in Woodstock.
