buying a 88 1-ton 4wd.single rear wheel.wanting to put a short box on it.any pointers or tips in doing this?even if it is negative.let me hear it.thanks

if you search a bit, Vile Zambonie just did this to his '74 GMC C1500. he posted good pics and even a video of the truck afterwards...
as far as positives/negatives? well, positives is that it looks cool to see a 1-ton 4x4 shortbed (i'm gonna have one soon), as a negative, you lose bedspace, the ride will be a little worse due to the shorter wheelbase...you can't really haul a gooseneck trailer anymore (if you did to begin with)...otherwise...it's not really that bad...if you want it, GO FOR IT!
BTW, welcome aboard!

Mount the SWB bed, mark the frame front/rear and start hacking.... See the thread in the Projects section with this title.

1 ton 4x4 would be cool. as far as shortening the frame, it isn't as bad as it sounds.....just remember to measure, measure, measure

Good luck with your project smoke.I think the fuel tanks might be different aren't they?

ya thanks guy's.i will measure twice cut once.found the post about cutting it down.so i do need to mount the bed first?there isn't a magic number to cut out?also the gas tank is already in the back in the frame.so shouldn't have to really mess with that.
