Title: Aftermarket extended cab?
Post by: 81C10 on April 17, 2008, 10:50:31 pm
I found a mid 80s C10 with a 'custom' extended cab. I have seen one in a magazine before. How rare are they? It's almost rust free and has a 350. Unfortunately its an automatic (most likely 700R4). I've never seen one in person

What's it worth? I think I could get it for about scrap price.

I would say it worth more than scrap price for sure!

Here is mine. It is an 86 GMC. As far as how rare, I don't know. I can't find any documentation on them. I know most were made by Overland Custom Coach, and it was supposedly in Texas, but I cannot confirm that either. Can you post pics, and where is it?  Here are pix of mine. I am collecting pictures of these trucks so I can try to document what is out the before all the info gets lost. I was told they were mostly built from 84-86, but during those years, other trucks of the same body were modified, but the 84-86 were the only ones done as new vehicles

They aren't factory, but they are rare.  And they well worth the price of scrap metal.  If one was sitting here that I could pick up for that price, I would get it, and I have 6 of these trucks...

I have been looking for a nice clean one if you decide against it.

heck yea, those are SUPER RARE.  i'm not real fond of this truck in an extended cab (every company that did it made it look something resembling the "Family Truckster" from National Lampoon's Family Vacation) but it is still cool to see one...

Man I love seeing those!  There used to be a rusted out 84-86 ext cab short bed 2wd in my home town when I was in HS.  I talked to the guy once upon a time, and told him I wanted it when he was done.  I saw it about 3 years ago at the scrap yard when I took a load in.  I kid you not, I shed a tear!
