Great question. But, not to hijack Chevyboy's thread, but, I have a 241c, what kind of fluid? How do you know if the level is OK?

SGTDEL
DEXRON and you fill it on level ground until it's level with the bottom of the fill/check plug.

Well make up your mind. Is it a 205 or a 208? :o
The 208 takes ATF the 205 takes GL5 and the 203 takes 10w30

The 205 is big and iron, the 208 is all aluminum and uses a large, plastic shifter inside the truck that is usually lighted. The 205 will have a simple rubber boot and an iron ring holding it down. The 203 is by fat the largest, sporting two large case sections with an aluminum housing extending from the back.
