My 03 Tahoe 5.3 has a weeping schraeder valve on the fuel rail. It doesn't drip all the time and when it does, it's pretty slow. Only seems to do it after the truck is off and the system pressures down somewhat. The fitting is threaded to hold a fuel pressure gauge I'm sure, but is there a cap I can put on there?

well, you should be able to put an A/C cap on there such as what is used to cover up the A/C fittings when they aren't in use, but that's not the right way to fix it. you need to try (while there is no fuel pressure, in case it strips out) to use a schrader valve wrench (tire valve core tool) to try and tighten it a little. if that doesn't work, you might need a new core...probably a cheaper/easier fix than trying to search out the cap for it...

That was my next question: are those things replaceable without having to buy a whole new fuel rail assembly. I'd like to hear more about replacing a core. You would need a specialized wrench, eh? Interesting.

well, it's just like replacing the valve stem in a tire. you just get the "special wrench" from wal-mart (might have to get a bigger one, such as what they use for bigger tires) and unscrew it, then insert a new one, but again, i STRESS-MAKE SURE THERE IS NO FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE...YOU WILL BE BLASTED IN THE FACE WITH FUEL IF YOU DON'T!

Yeah I would make sure to open the valve and release all the fuel pressure before I did any of this. And probably after letting it sit overnight and having the pressure go down as much as possible. I'll look for one of those wrenches though for sure.
