I bought this sunday yes it was 4/20/08 and had to drive from kansas city mo all the way to topeka kansas. thats like 3 hours. the guy wanted 3500 and wouldnt budge a dime on the price. its got new a/c, heat, cruise, and has a 700r4 tranny. im pretty sure this is the first throttle body. but yeah. let me know what you all think of my hot rod work in progress. oh and i have already bought hedman longtube headers and orig. flow 40's. thanks.

Awesome ride! I love the stance of the truck and also those AR rims look good on it.

Sharp looking truck, is that a solid or metallic red?
-
its solid red. and you cant tell from the pics but the hood needs a better clear coat. i want to put some pics of the interior too but it only allows for 4 pics. if i knew how to add more i would.
-

-
Looks good, how did it run?
-
Man that truck looks tuff! Anybody know what kind of wheels those are? Does it have the 5.7L? Big props on the find. $3500? That's a steel bro. Looks clean. Hopefuly my 87 will be there soon.. ;D
-
ok so here is a few other pics...
yeah everything looks good but the motor. its dirty. i have bought allot of parts for it but just need more time to put it all on. oh and i need some advice on dropping the gas tanks. both gas tanks need to be dropped and have the tank brackets replaced but they both have these plastic covers on them that are a huge pain in the you know what. so send me a message on how to deal with those. thanks
-
man that is a clean/nice truck :o
you made out NICE for 3500...is that a 305 or a 350 truck?
-
its a 350. thanks for the comments
-
oh man, you couldn't really ask for more! mine will be a 350 too, but i'm having to MAKE it a 350...lol
-
That's a good looking truck.
-
at $3500 you scored big time!! good find!
-
Nice ride! Did I see that one on Craigslist? $3500 STOLEN!
-
here are the latest pics. i have now put on the hedman headers (my self and a huge pain in the ass) and flowmaster 40s to dumps. it sounds good but could really use a radical cam... but that would cause me to buy all sorts of new parts. heads, pistons, lifters, pushrods. and the list goes on. you all know exactly the situation im in. lol. so much to do. so little money. thanks for the good feed back guys.
-
looks good how about a video
-
nice work man...but yea, i second the video motion...
-
heres the latest. i have replaced my driver side support brackets fuel pump and filter. now i have a 373 motive gear and bearing kit. i am not sure whether to try and tackle this my self or have a mechanic friend do it.sorry for no clip but i dont have a vid camera and my cell camera film is terrible quality and is in real player format
-
As mentioned....I too love your stance.....did you lower it and if so how much/ how??
-

same here! love that stance and would like to know how you dropped it and what size wheels and tires? Looks like a spindle drop and possibly no drop in rear for that ultimate rake but I'm just guessing. Those also look to be 17'' wheels, once again, taking a guess.
-
well the wheels are thrust II and they are 16in. im not for sure on what was done to the front but the guy i bought it from said nothing was done to the front. i think it is just older suspension. but i dont think so, because that front end looks pretty low. and the back had adjustable shackles and they are all the way up on the adjustments. i was actually thinking about lowering it but everyone thinks it looks better this way. even my girl friend who is a f... girl. i cant even type it. haha. no but seriously i think if you guys just bought some oversized shackles and maybe some lowering springs in the front it would look identical to this. and thanks for all the good comments. its positive encouragement for me to keep it and make it even nicer.
-
wow that thing it clean
-
It is definitely dropped in the front. Looks about 3" down.
-
Looks like the front sits just like my '84 GMC did, and I KNOW it wasn't lowered..the front springs were just horridly worn out..Put on a set of gabriel coil over overload shocks to add 300 lbs of capacity to each side, and it brought it up to almost stock..

i won my first trophy this weekend. i took it to a well known show. i entered it in the stock/original class for 81-up trucks. i know my truck is nothing of a show stopper but i just love going and listening to all the old guys give me advice on what to do and what not to do. so here is a pic of my trophy. i am not gonna lie to you guys. there were only three of us in my class. it sucks because the other two trucks shouldnt have even been there but since i was in the all stock class they had me beat. the guy in first had a 1989 or so dodge dakota and it was ugly as all get out but it was a convertible top and was clean as a whistle. and the second place guy had a brand spanken new f150 all wheel drive lowered to the ground with 22's and a grill (not much effort) . so i think i was the only true hotrod truck in my class but who am i to judge. this is my first trophy so im just sharing my excitement with you classic car lovers.

congratulations man!
-
Waaaay cool! Congratulations!
-
Congratulations! I've showed my before and I always hated when someone would buy a brand new truck not do anything to it and think they really had something. Or the other thing I can't stand is when someone puts a price on every part they buy or how much they spend to have somebody do all the work on it. Built not Bought thats my favorite saying.

+1 was at a show a few years back and the first 6 trophies handed out were all new Vettes, and I mean brand new, plus the only winners belonged to the club hosting the shown except for one. Mean while, there was a beautiful 39 Ford pickup that was driven(not trailered ever) from Alberquerque, New Mexico which is prob 500-600 miles, and didn't get recognition. If it wasn't polished, painted, or plated and was on the truck, it was their luggage. They called me the next year to come back out, and when I explained to him that there were alot of vehicles there last year that were twice the machines that their store bought Vettes were, I think he got a little offended. I watched that show go from 100 plus cars the first year, to about 20 , and all their own members.
Congrats on the trophy.
-
congratulations
-
thanks guys. and even thought i got third, i really just came out to look at everyones beautiful cars and look at all the detail, and enjoy the car guy atmosphere. now im hooked for life now
-
bought a ring and pinion and bearing kit to replace the 3.08 highway special. its a 3.73 gear and i also bought a brushed aluminum rear end cover. now i was wondering what part do i need to make it posi and not a one wheel wonder. would i have to buy a new rear gear thats posi or just a major part that switches it from open. also is 270$ too much for the work. i would like to do it but i KNOW if i dont get some help on this one i will be screwed.so im just gonna have my mechanic do it and help out and learn. also my passenger side tank is leaking. do you guys know where its prone to leak? so i know before i go dropping it
-
You will need a posi carrier. Either Eaton or Auburn make nice smooth streetable posi's. The set up for your final drive gears is critical. Pinion depth and pinion bearing preload which is acheived by using a collapsible spacer and meauring rotational torque using an inch pound dial type torque wrench. Once thta is set correctly, install the carrier with the proper backlash and correct side end play to aceive proper carrier bearing preload. Once it's set do a gear toothe contact pattern analysis to ensure long life and smooth operation. If your mechanic knows how to do this properly and has the correct tools then $270 bucks is a good deal.
While you're there have your mechanic check for your fuel leaks with his smoke machine. That'll point out exactly where your leaks are.

this is a lil off topic for the site but here we go. when i was sixteen i bought a 1976 trans am and i bought it for 3 grand from a good friend now boss. he had put all the hot rod goods in it. probably 5 grand worth. it is a 400 sb with dart racing heads and flat top pistons 411 posi and a heck of a cam. i mean you think it died in between idle type of cam. and so the story goes i had it for 3 months. took it to the highschool drags competitioin. rana 13 somthin and sold it not too long after. and now i have found it! i found it for sale on craigs and i have called the guy and am gonna buy it back. i have made the agreement to pay him as i get the money and he will hold on to it for me. so pretty much i just thought you guys would like to see my dream car that i kicked myself in the ass for selling and now am buying it back. the first couple pics are when i first got it and then the after math of its recent owner.

Sweet, love the color. I like those style chrome wheels...
-
i like it but are them american racing wheels or cragars? cause sometimes there kinda hard to tell them apart but i like them and i think mine would look good with some
-
the wheels on my truck are American racing torque thrust II's
-
good looking truck. i like the stance. how much is it dropped? i want to lower my '87 longbed but i cant decide on the right height.
