Title: Instrument cluster swap
Post by: gbskunk2006 on April 23, 2008, 10:52:55 pm
I have an 86 C15 with a 4.3 Liter V6.  The original instrument cluster isn't very fancy, basic speedo and gas guage in the larger two center openings, and simple warning lights for the oil pressure, water temp, voltage and I can't quite remember the last one off hand.

I was at the wreckers the other week and they had an 85 C10 with a V8.  It's instrument cluster included actual guages for oil pressure, water temp, etc.

Is swapping the two clusters as simple as "plug and play"?

Thanks in advance.

Technically yes if it is an 85 to 86..  I always verify the harness wiring though.

Make sure the voltage gauge is NOT an amp meter or vise versa - they wire up differently.  You can always post pics for us to see.
