That really sucks, but as long as you are okay, things are good....................the truck can be fixed.

man, is this ANOTHER fire in the same truck?  or is this a late posting of the first fire?  do you know what caused it?

people don't realize that electrical wiring and poor fuel lines = bad news unfortunatley. Hopefully you can shed some more light on what caused your fire to help others avoid a similar circumstance.

Vile is right the first 2 thing i baught is a fire exstingiser and a batt quick disconnect, if i had the disconnect is could have prevented the second fire under the dash due to wires the melted through and shorted out in the engine bay and travled to the intearor.

I had a Ford Econoline 350 work truck do that.  The rubber hose of Ford's design really sucked.  I can't count how many fuel lines I have bent from the fuel pump to the carb on cars/trucks I bought for resale-projects.  After being on the end of a fire I never use rubber hose under pressure.  They will eventually fail usually sooner than later...  Glad you are alright

BUMMER DUDE!!!!!!   Sorry to see that happen to you.

I just recently put a Q-jet with an electric choke on my 78 shorty and took off the partial metal cobbed with rubber line the previous owner installed and put a solid metal line from the pump to the carb. I got both off a car I scrapped and of course the metal line leaks at the pump! The flared end on the line at the pump didn't look that great when I put it on so that's what I get!! I saw it leaking while I was adjusting the carb so I shut it off and went in the house for the night. Guess after seeing your pics I made the right call.  (the exhaust is leeking at the right side manifold) I'll bend a new fuel line.

Good luck putting her back together.

Wow, that's really terrible. How bad is the damage to the interior and engine besides the melted interior pieces? Is it salvageable?

Does anybody make pre-bent fuel lines? Is it all that hard to make them? I played with a hand-held tube bender in college once but that was about it.

the damage was extensive due to the volunteer fire dept... i think they were afraid of fire so they broke every thing to get to the one inside the truck instead of just looking under the dash like i did. that sulfur stuff is so harsh I'm telling you... i had to replace the dash pad, bezel, heat ducts, heater controls, vents, wiper/lights/tilt wheel controll stuff on the column it was bad!!! but its been 6 days and its a TV cable away from driving and an amp away from where it was if not better, i will post some pics i took yesterday...

and as for the your fuel line, there not to bad to bend,

It's not hard to bend the fuel or brake lines, I have a bender and a double flare tool so it's just time and materials. I got one on it and I'm back on the road, I trust it totally but........... the trucks got a fire ext. in it now.

Way to go franken, lookin good!
