The title says its an 81 anyways. 12 bolt rear with richmond 3.73 & auburn pro series diff. 10 bolt front has richmond 3.73 and eaton diff. I did away with 350/203 combo in favor of a sm465/205 bulletproof combo. It has 6 inch pro comp springs front and rear with 37" goodyear mtrs wrapped around 15x10 ultra wheels. Up front is a Warn combo kit with Warn xd9000i winch. I put on a line lock from Jegs to help hold the truck since I did away with the emergency brakes. I gutted the interior and put in a new set of autometer sport comps and undercoated the floor. my newest project is building a 4bolt main 350 out of my 79 parts 2wd. Plans include 10:1 CR, Comp Cams valvetrain with xtreme 4x4 camshaft, 750 edelbrock carb and rpm intake. After I get the mouse build up paid for, Im going to drop in dana60/14 bolt swap. One piece at a time....

Thanks... I had some free time when I got home from Iraq in 2006. Now that all that combat pay is exhausted, it's one piece at a time...

nice truck ;D

i hear ya. i got back from Iraq in 2005 and like an idiot i wasted my money on a '96 F350 Super Cab short bed 4x4 with 6" of lift, 37" tires, 7.3 Powerstroke/5-speed manual. it was pretty and that motor was strong, but it was a pile of crap that ended up costing me what i had saved after buying it initially. you got something nice and reliable...i got my '83 Sierra now and i'll never give 'er up!

Sorry for the delay guys, I have had some computer issues that I have been fighting with (darn technology!!!).
1st off, the gauges are Auto Meter Sport Comps, 2 1/16s and 3 3/8s. They are mounted in a Covan Classic panel. If you can find another panel, go for it. The Covans are junk in my book. For what I paid for the thing, I would expect better fit and a better view of the gauges. They are flimsy and just JUNK!!! When I put gauges in my 83, Im going the route I have seen on here before and use a chrome accent kit and redrill it to fit 5" and 2 5/8" gauges.
2nd off, the trans is a top loader, SM465. Its an awesome trans for an offroad truck or a truck that does alot of pulling. Stepside man, I dont know how well it would do for you as a street trans. First gear is 6.55:1, second is 3.58:1, third is 1.57:1, and fourth is 1:1. In my opinion for a street toploader, and I have considered and researched (lost all of the webpages I had saved with afore mentioned techno probs) this swap/hybrid is a T5. It will take two T5s to do the swap right. First off, you must use a T5 from a camaro/bird as the clutch options are much more greater (s10s swaps are limited, 10" I belive is the biggest I found for a 14 spline s10). Also, the camaro/bird guts have better gearing with like a 2.70ish:1 first and a .70:1 OD compared to the s10's 4.1:1 first. But you also have to take an S10 tailhousing/shift tower and swap it with the camaro/bird's as the s10's is shorter and will be pretty close for our floor boards (maybe even still use a bench seat). Now I hadnt found a swap like this done on one of our trucks for pics or proof, but it is a common thing is some of the older chevys (ie 1950's era).
By the way, Chris, you may just wanna make that into a new post, I dont know...
Guys...anything?
