Title: Goin From 2 to 4 Headlights
Post by: 82Shortbed on May 06, 2008, 10:02:37 pm
I just got myself an '82 Custom Deluxe, and it's a 2 headlight truck.  I've been thinking of either:

Swapping to a 4 headlight truck and move the parking lights into the grille like 83-87, but I HATE wiring.

or

Using the 85-87 2 Headlight bezels, moving the parking lights up under the headlights, and of course the billet grille and 83-87 front bumper

Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated!

Chris

why not get a 4 headlight radiator support, swap that over along with the wiring harness from that donor truck, get your billet grille and keep your flashers in your 82 bumper. I personally like that look.

well, if u were closer id give you one, but a bone yard si highly advisable, since most of the time , it's the fenders that people want, not the core support

What should I offer or pay for the harness, core support, maybe even the headlight buckets, and parking lights, I'd like to get out under $100 if i pull the stuff myself

http://www.pullapart.com (http://www.pullapart.com) I've had good luck with these people. 2 Locations in Atlanta and 1 in Augusta.

If that does not pan out, I have everything you need here in Birmingham, core support, buckets, harness from an '84 Silverado w 4 headlights. You can have it.

sweet, Let me call a couple of local guys and see what they want for their stuff, if they are too proud of stuff they probably wouldn't even notice missing, then I'll definitely be PMing you!

Ditto on the pullapart!  I've got one here in Colorado Springs that I've used quite a bit...not on my K10 recently but my and my neighbors' other vehicles.  Prices seem really reasonable.  And it's nice being able to tear your stuff out of a beater truck so you can figure out the best way to install it right in your own!

Ive had a few friends with LOTS of success on pullapart. he got like a whole bed and a transmission for like $100.  I'm gonna see how friendly the boneyards are, they better be nice, cuz most of them buy their car parts from me and they get breaks, so they should RTF

I'm kinda stumped on one thing!  I see on the 83-87 the parking lights are held on the grille with nuts, How do they stay in place with billet grilles????

pretty sure you have to fab something up. why not just leave the flashers in the bumper?

I have thought about doing that, I need a new front bumper pretty bad since father time and mother nature havent been too kind to it.  I was looking at the   triple plated bumper and clear parking lamp set.  All I'd have to do then is just lengthen the wiring harness unless I can an 81 or 82 with 4 headlights.
