Whenever i start my truck up it usually squeals for about a second then it stops, but now, it does it when im driving. I dont think its the belt because ive put belt dressing on it. I think it might be a pulley bearing? any ideas?
-
it's the belt. get a new one... dressing never works for long.
-
Ditto, never use dressing, just replace the belt.

Mamby, Yes, change the belt. Also run a piece of 180-220 grit sand paper on the pulley grooves. If the vehicle has been sitting for a little while, a minimal rust build-up can form on the exposed parts & cause the squeal. Lorne

ah, found out what it was, alternator belt was loose, go figure, the only belt i didn't check.

Same thing just happened to me

i just went thru this ordeal 2 months ago;
Not only get a new belt, but get a Gates belt; That Dayco stuff won't cut it.
Please refer to this thread regarding my plight:

UPDATE:
Ok, i see it was that the belt was loose. Anyways, i feel my thread is good reading anyways.

Clean the pulleys, sometimes they get oil on them that never goes away on it's own. Loose will do it too ::)
