swapping ac and engine, tranny, etc over from an 80 to a 79. i got the dash out, got the duct work out, but have yet to tear into the 79 since the 80's a junker anyway. are all the ducts, etc in the same spots? i noticed one vent on the drivers side that's not in the non ac truck. does everything have to be swapped over or just that vent?

You need to swap the entire unit. Under the dash: evaporator core-heater box case, ducts, control assembly, wiring, dash pad insert & gauge bezel. To complete the swap, the fresh air vents in the kick panels should be changed. Out under the hood: condenser,compressor,evaporator-heater case, hoses, vacuum ball & valve, ect. You will also need to remove a strip of firewall where the evap-heater box goes (look at the two firewalls once striped down & make a template) & drill a few holes. I'm sure I left out a few things, it's plenty doable, just keep track of everything & take your time. Lorne

thanks... that's what i thought so i've been really careful taking everything out. i took out the duct work, and the controls, dash, gauges, etc but i left the wiring alone for now until someone that knows these better can help out. i don't wanna make the job harder for someone helping me out..
