picke up a 79 malibu 2 door today for only $500. It has the 3.3 v6 and auto trans. Drove it 50 miles home with the a/c on! Cant decide on what motor to drop in to it. I have a 305 h.o. and 200r4 out of a 87 monte ss. I have a 350, and a 454 laying around also. The 200r4 is the only extra trans I have at the moment. But anyways I am real excited about this car as I have always wanted one. These are the best pics I could get for now.

Cool, looks like its pretty clean for rust. A buddy of mine used to have a78 or 79 2 door with a 400 small block, TH 400, and 3:73's. That thing hauled the mail pretty well!

1) Why/how so cheap? With Rallye wheels at that. i know you're a charming guy, but wow.
a) The wheels alone are worth about $200.
2) i don't think an 86 is possible.

ya 82 is the last year for the malibu, I think blazin was just having a brain fart. prob had caprice on his mind. I got the car so cheap from just being at the right place at the right time and yes it came with the rallys. A 78-81 malibu with a v6 just isnt any fun lol.
And Stewart if only you lived in my area I would give you that 3.3 as a freebie, it runs great.

It was a 78 or 79. It was his graduating present from his parents. I don't think they had a clue! They figured 2 door, & it had chrome wheels so he will be cool with it, but on the other hand it was a nice little car like grandma would drive. His old man took it for a ride but never got after it. It had real quiet exhaust so the cam lope wasn't real noticeable. Withing a few weeks we had glass packs on it, & the rear end blown. We put a limited slip in it in auto shop after that. Then you couldn't keep u joints in it, or tires on the rear of it!

I had its brother in the Pontiac version. Dark Blue 2 dr with a blown up 301 in it. I had a 76 Grand Prix with the Ponitac 400 with a slight cam and TH400 with dual exhaust that had a dash fire. Plopped it all in one weekend and boy did it run good. The torque of the 400 even with the highway gears you couldn't keep a right rear tire on it long. Those were the days, premium no-lead was $1.50/gallon. I do remember it was fairly good on gas if you drove it decently. Makes me feel old. Nice find, I like that era Malibu. I found a couple over the years but the frames were bad. I vote for the big block.

1) Thanks for the offer, but why not try to build it up? Headers/dual exhaust, multicarbs/or fuel injection, other things that i can't think of right now, etc. Remember the GMC cyclones/typhoons had the 90Deg v-6 and they flew.
a) i'm betting that the car has 2.41 or higher gears. i think with just a gear change, this could be a fun car even with 200 cid.
2) The roswell malibu is a perfect example of one of the premises that i was talking about in the thread entitled "turning a profit"; This car is all done and needs no work. It even has A/C. Although i'm not use to spending 15K on a car, i feel it may be worth it considering you will spend absolutely no time fixing it up and can drive it immediately----and then, suddenly, the 15K doesn't seem like so much.
Also, since this is a dealer, you know they are going to make a profit on it which means they didn't get it for 15K or spend 15K building it.
3) i dig the pontiac 400 as well as all pontiac v-8s. What fascinates me is that all the gm divisions , including GMC for a time, had their own engines up until the early 80's and in some cases further.
Why do you suppose this was considering the chevy small block by 1960 or so was the undisputed popularity leader by far?
