Title: Coolant Recovery Tank - Design Flaw?
Post by: gbskunk2006 on June 07, 2008, 06:48:14 pm
Just got my 86 GMC C15 back on the road and lovin it!  I installed a brand new Coolant Recovery Tank because the old one would always leak somewhere around where the over flow rad hose connect to the inlet.

Go figure, the new CRT is leaking in the same spot.

Did I just get a lemon of a part?

take it out and fill it with water to see if it leaks.

Mine leaked at the same place and I fixed it with a 2-part epoxy. Your truck looks so good that you should just buy a new one.

It is brand new! :D

Had bought some epoxy a few days ago so will be yanking it out this weekend.  I took some photo's of it and hope to get a credit from where I bought it from (I've trashed my old one).

...my coolant recovery tank is an old antifreeze jug with a hole cut in the lid big enough for the overflow hose from the radiator...
