Title: 1985 Silverado with ls engine

Hey, I am going to Buy a 1985 Silverado 3/4 Ton 4wd, That is BONE Stock, no Rust, Has Original Dual Exhaust. Even the Mufflers are Stock. (But they Need Attention) Any way. I want to Get some Better Gears in the rear, It Has 4.10 or 4.11 in it now. I want something Like a 3.42 or 3.08, somewhere in that Region, 3.73's are Over Rated in my books. Then I've been looking at the 5.3L Ls Engines, I've been thinking about Getting one with a Transmission with all the Wiring and ECM. I dont know For sure what rear End it has in it. I know its a 3/4 Ton rear. I tried looking around but I havent seen any Ls Engines in the 73-87 Chevy Trucks. and Cant Find any Gears other than 4.10 and 3.73's for the 14bolt Rears. I Dont know what this one has.. I didnt Count when i Looked at it.

welcome aboard man!  sounds like a nice truck you've found.  i'm willing to bet money it has the 14-bolt FF rear axle and the 10-bolt front with 8-lug outers.  as for gears, best bet is to look at the option sticker if it's still in there, if not there are other ways to determine whats in there now

I have an 85 3/4 ton 4x4.  It came stock with the 3.23's that are still in it.  I wish i could trade fore something lower.  4.10 range sounds like what I want.

well sheesh, I'd Trade with ya, but I Wont Officially Have the truck till october..  ;) It Sucks, Ive had a 2wd Full size truck. I miss it.. I have a 4x4 S-10.... Cant wait to have a 4x4 Full size truck!!

Yea Thats Just a TPI Setup. I Am looking at Getting a Wrecked LS 1998-2002 5.3L or 6.0L Before the TBW systems... Because I like my Manual Throttle. Like to find a T56 too... That'd be cool.
