I don't have anything that gets hot in 5 minutes. It will take about 10 minutes before the temp gauge even starts moving. When I fill an engine, I start it with the cap off, and watch the filler. When the thermostat opens, you will the the level kinda surge and normally drop a little. Let it run a little longer and watch the level.

my k5 has heat within 5 minutes everytime

I have heat, but the gauge doesn't move in five minutes.

could be bad gauge or temp sending unit.

i just thought about something today, if it was an air lock (or air bubble) it wouldn't NOT heat up, it would overheat. trust me, that motor is heating up, if it wasn't then all the manufacturers would be offering you millions to buy it so they could tear it apart and study it so they wouldn't have to run cooling systems anymore, lol
there is way too much friction in a motor for it to not heat up.

hi there
checked rad yesterday and wasnt heating or i misses the thermostst raise the level..also think it may be water pump or airlock.. ill take out the thermostat today and try that .I found a slice in one of the heater hoses and replaced that yesterday didnt get a chance to try it will today..if ya 's can think of anything else ps let me know haha I was removingthe starter yesterday as it was shot and when tryin t hold it up and droped a starter bolt on my lip and took out 3 front teeth Jeese have to go see if i can get them fixed today or may have to get a plate with a few teeth on it , money i could have spent on the truck , haha

ouch! anyhow, i just thought about something...maybe we're reading this wrong the whole time. do you mean the RADIATOR isn't getting hot or the motor isn't getting hot? if its the radiator then maybe your water pump isn't pumping. meaning the water never leaves the radiator to go to the motor. but like i said above, there is no way that engine isn't heating up.

The hot water is makin presure so I was thinking it would be pushed through the rad..But ill change it anyway haha have a few for it ..mell my dentins got my pushrods and lifters today haha Ill have some new ones by next week ...I Hope... my young fella has his graduation next week .need me teeth haha

Try out for the hockey team, you'll fit right in.
Those starters are quite heavy for such a little package. Solid lead would weigh about the same thing. Good thing the whole starter didn't fall on ya, you'd be needin' more than just a few teeth. Sorry what happened anyway.

shoot, they aren't near as bad as the factory 6.2 starters. those suckers were known for breaking blocks...i replaced a great deal of them in the Army...
