HELP HELP HELP!!!!! Hello to all! I am needing some help, I am wanting to make a 84 LWB Crewcab into a SWB. How much of the frame (INCHES) needs to be cut out to make everything line up? All help is appreciated.

have you seen this: http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=7334.0 and this: http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/lwb_to_swb.htm
Same idea, just on a shorter frame. I would cut it using the one in the forum (1st link) If you have a short bed, remove the Long bed and bolt it down, It will be obvious where to cut. You need to remove 14" out of the front and 6" off of the rear.

Thanks Captkaos!!! I am probably going to start on this thing Monday and I will start posting pics as soon as I start. Thanks a lot. :) :) :)

Sweet, post your progress and pics under the Projects forum.

You think that's a good project? I have only seen 2 others done.

Welcome from West Texas by the way. I have seen several of these trucks in the shortbed 3/4 ton version, and even 1 years ago that was a shortbed dually. They look sharp, so good luck on the build and keep us updated. There is alot of knowledge here, so you're at the right spot.

I know of 3 being done right now, one is a customers truck. It is a VERY popular procedure for these. If I can ever get any of my other projects done and I keep mine I will probably convert it to SWB also. I have a bunch of pics of them done.

Ive seen one done running around tyler,tx, and if my brother inlaw finds a suitable crew, we will be doing this, then putting 1/2 ton running gear to make a nice cruiser, also, one day im gonna do this to a 4x4, lifted10 inches on 44s with a 454, gotta wait till my stepdad gets out :(

Captkaos if you have some pics could you shootem my way? I am planning on putting 1/2 Ton suspension on it and just jumping in it. I have a good friend who has a race shop and he is the one I bought the truck and 1/2 ton suspension for $600. The truck is a 84 silverado, it still has the original paper work from the dealership in the glove box!!! Any one know where to but some good bucket seats???? grayharville thanks for the welcome from West Texas!

Did he have to get smaller fuel tanks or was he able to use the original ones?

I am not into 4 doors but that is one good looking truck. Never seen one pictured or in person.
